It’s an olive, not an egg. It measures 3.1 inches around the waist and 5.5 inches long. By its size, it’s definitely qualified to be an egg, an abnormally bigger egg. Whether you like it or not, I’d like to call it an egg that can break into three pieces. These three pieces form an egg-shaped DAP from Sofmap, and they call it Digital Olive instead of Digital Egg. The two pieces on the sides are the 3-watt speakers and the central piece is the player.

There is no built-in memory, but you can play songs in the format of WMA/MP3 loaded on a USB flash hooked up to its USB port or on SD/MMC cards. It doesn’t have a headphone jack, so you have no choice, have to stick to its little tiny speakers. It seems like they’re pretty confident with the power of its tiny speakers, as it allows audio input, which an external player can be hooked up to it, to use it solely as active speakers. It’ll be out in Japan only, starting July 24th for $49.00.
