Samsung’s got a new idea for the cell phone’s antenna. It’s gonna add a dual-function antenna to its future cell phone product. Meaning that the antenna is no ordinary antenna, which it can also work as a USB charger. This antenna comes in the form of a male USB adapter, which you can then plug to the USB port of your laptop or PC to juice up its battery. This is especially good for frequent traveler which you don’t need to carry an additional power adapter for your cell phone. Anytime, you can just charge it with by having it to hook up with the USB port of your laptop or UMPC . Other than this the antenna cum USB adapter can also be used to sync data with your computers. Samsung has patented this new idea, which it’s expected to bring in some fat profit to them.

But in the attached picture, it shows that the hinge between the screen and the keypad is flexible enough, to let you hold the keypad portion to twist it to and from many angles. Which is exactly how a joystick works for gaming. My guess is this would be a wireless joystick that works either in a Bluetooth or WiFi manner or even wired via USB cable, to communicate with your game console. I appreciate what Samsung has done. They seem to be contributing plenty of ideas to twist around the body of the cellphone, just like what they’d done last month, patented the antenna of the cellphone to work as a USB charger. [...]

[...] Samsung seems to be pretty aggressive in integrating new applications into cellphones. I really appreciate their work. We’ve learned before couple of new patents from Samsung, such as the cellphone’s antenna as USB charger, or the cellphone itself is flexible enough to be a joystick for game. And what’s more? Samsung, this time is absolutely worth a praise, it’s filing a patent for an application that works on your cell phone that allows you to monitor your wife’s or your GF’s fertility. [...]
