Solar-powered Meraki outdoor WiFi repeater extends your WiFi to your neigborhood!
Here is a solar-powered WiFi outdoor repeater from Meraki, which works well with their indoor repeater. Its maximum signal broadcasting range can reach up to 700 feet away. Of course for the best performance, you’d better keep it within the range of half of its maximum only.

As an outdoor device, it’s specially designed to withstand those pretty bad condition of outdoor. It also comes with a special Ethernet cable that is meant for outdoor use. This repeater can be easily installed on a wall or even a pole outside the house.

When paired with the Meraki’s indoor repeater, you can then be kind enough or charge for a fee to extend your WiFi signal and share your super Internet highway to your neighborhood. The Meraki outdoor can be added with the solar accessories kit, so you don’t need any electrical source to power it. The solar kit includes solar panel, battery pack and also software that lets you manage the power usage, which can then let it save some for use during night time or cloudy days. By itself, costs you only $100.00. But there is no info on how much you need to pay for adding a solar accessories kit.

It would be truly amazing if this sort of thing really come in the market. I can’t wait for more green technologies to be implemented in the world.

The reason you don’t see more of this type of thing on the market is that it is expensive, and who will pay big money for solar when you can easily run a power cord? Also wireless routers/repeaters don’t use very much power to begin with. My guess is the battery and module and mounts will be around $600-$900 extra, and if you live in a rainy place in the winter like Seattle, you will need 4-6 solar modules..I do solar for a living…
