Here comes the new memory card standard, developed by the Taiwanese research institute, which has just got approval by The MultiMedia Card Association. It’s some kind of global memory card, which is called miCard (Multiple Interface Card) that works well both with the USB and MMC slots.
The initial spec comes with fairly impressive transfer rate and storage size, which are 480Mbit/sec and 8GB, respectively. And it’s expected that the storage size could go up to two terabytes (2048GB). This new card format has gained supports from twelve companies. They are A-Data Technology Inc., Asustek Computer Inc., BenQ Corp., Carry Computer Eng. Co., C-One Technology Corp., DBTel Inc., Power Digital Card Co. and RiChip Inc etc.
