Wrist-worn RFID tagWhat’s more for the usage of RFID? Sieman and Motorola have taken a step ahead to enable RFID to be used in hospitals for tracking patients and also school campus for tracking students. The application is making use of the combination of both RFID and WiFi, which allows greater distance to be reached for each RFID tag. The intention behind is to make sure all the patients within the hospital compound areas and students within the campus are safe and sound. The kind of RFID tags that work well with WiFi network are a bit more sophisticated. They’re active, larger in size and more expensive. It needs power source and have software installed in order for it to communicate with the wireless access points. As shown in the picture, it looks like each tag will eventually be like a wristwatch, to be worn by patients or students. But, I’m wondering what if they’re in the hands of those non-disciplined students or patients. They’ll just take ii off and chuck it in the bin. Unless, these tags are made non-detachable.
