Help me please........ i am a mac user and when i connect my v8 to the USB, my puter is seeing it as a camera and i cant figure out how to get music to my phone. Am i completely missing something here?

Oh and after i personalized my v8 with how i wanted the phone to sound with vibe and ring, the ringer had gone to not ringing at all after about 4hrs, all on its own. Did the external controls silence my phone while it was in my purse or is there something up w/my phone?

I think it is super sexy......

This phone looks nice but starts to experience keypad problems within a few months of usage. I do not recommend this phone to anyone.

1 - is the speaker loud like when you play ring tones and stuff

2 - memory what's the internal memory for the one on t- mobile.

3 - i currently have a nokia and i can shoot videos for a long time as long as i set the saving to my memory card, i wanna know if the video length can be changed if i set it to save on the memory card instead of the phone itself, and if there even is such an option.

I am on my third V8. Like others here have mentioned there are issues, serious issues with the keys. They are nearly worthless and texting has become next to impossible. Dialing can be cumbersome and searching from my contacts a nightmare since the search seems to jump letters at whim. The USB port is falling off again, as it completely fell off the first V8 I owned. The center of the screen has developed a moisture bubble which is fairly visible if you look directly at the screen when the light is off. Like others have also mentioned, it is quite perplexing why you cannot see missed calls on the external screen. I could do this ten years ago but I can't do it on my V8? Strange indeed. I am able to view text messages and reply to them from a series of responses. This is completely controlled by the external haptic buttons. But some versions of the software seems to lack this feature, why I do not know? The battery life gets exponentially worse by the week. It is such a shame Motorola chose to drop the bomb with this POS, it could have been a wonderful phone.

HK,

I shouldn't be wasting my time replying to you as it seems you didn't even understand what I was saying. On top of that you had to resort to personal attacks and name calling. That's real adult of you.

My point about the external screen was that the TOUCH CONTROLS ONLY WORK FOR THE MUSIC PLAYER. Not that the external screen only works as a music player. For all other external screen functions, you must use the side controls.

I'm not going to argue with you about whether or not the phone is good or bad because we've have differing opinions and you've already made your decision.

In my estimation it's a well built phone and works well if you use it as a cell phone. Running the IM apps can cause it to reboot in the middle of calls. More functions should use the external screen with touch control.

The USB door breaks off at some point but that's not a big deal.

Battery life is very good depending on your service and how close you are to the towers.

At any rate, that's how I feel about it. I use my Razr2 for phone functions and my iPod Touch for all other functions.

let me start by saying i have the the razor2 since dec 07..
and i joined the thousand of people who GOT the iphone 3G this july..
comparing the 2 device, i found the battery of the razor to be far superior than the iphone 3G.. it lasts longer and you can actually purchase 2 0r even 10 spare batteries and change them in a second..
what's frustrating about the iphone is that i have to charge everyday..yeah i know you guys will tell me, it's a mini computer or some sort, but wait, shouldn't it be a PHONE first? before anything else??? and lasting for a complete day is a MUST..
especially if you're working..

going back to the razor2, i experience some of the problems posted here, like not being able to view the missed call from the external display.. hanging every now and then. BUT in general this is a very SEXY phone that funcions WELL for a phone.

now, when i'm working, i have to depend on my razor2 for calls, text and MMS.
unfortunately, my new iphone 3G is just for my personal calls, and i tunes.

Really Bob, according to T-Mobile and AT&T the V8 & V9 are "extremely troublesome". I have spoken with several reps and the pattern is very simple. These phones are being replaced at a fever pitch. Your comments are that of a neophyte and bare no resemblance on real world experience. I have already owned two V8's and I bought my girlfriend one that she wont use. The phone stinks, and has serious quality control issues that are quite severe. If you believe not being able to see your missed calls on the outside screen is "not a bog deal" then you obviously have little to no clue about anything as I have been a Motorola user for a decade and have used numerous Motorola phones you have never seen. It was a glaring omission by Motorola. As for your uninformed comment about the phone only acting as a music player from the outside screen, you once again display your ignorance as I can easily check and respond to messages text and media from the outside screen, I can also scroll through my messages as well, while the v8 I bought my girlfriend could not do anything but control the music player. There seems to be at least four different software versions for the luxury edition alone. At least two for T-Mobile version. We are here trying to find resolution not to be held in contempt by some hapless twit.

I agree with the above. I really like my Razr V2. Works great and my battery life is fantastic! I don't use it to play songs. You want an iPod, get an iPod. I use my iPod Touch for music and all the other apps.

The ONLY issue I have with this phone is the usb door WILL ABSOLUTELY break at some point no matter how careful you are. I've had my phone since it first came out so well over a year and I was very careful with the door. It just won't last. It's not a big deal as the phone is fine even without the door. Just like the older V3's which never had a door to begin with.

Oh and it does occaisionally reboot in the middle of a call. And like I said before, it seems to be related to having another app running.

As for people saying you can't do stuff with the external screen, you can. The ONLY application that uses the front screen touch controls is the music player. Other than that you MUST use the side controls to view your messages ect. on the front screen. Why they didn't program touch control for these other functions is a mystery but it's certainly not a huge deal.

As a phone, this thing is solid and works great. If you aren't playing songs all day long, your battery lasts and lasts! I've hung on the phone with people for over 2hrs and multiple calls throughout the day and their phone batteries died and I was still going!

Don't listen to the people who are saying this phone sucks as they have some axe to grind. The phone may not be the best of have a bazillion stupid features but it works fine as a cell phone.

this is a more of a COMPLAINT review board:

i purchased my V8 last february when i upgraded my t-mobile account.
so far, up to now i haven't encountered problems with the keys, battery, unable to use the external display etc.
only problem i encountered was the phone hanging/freezing about 3x already.
my cover for the charger is still there.. i'm careful when i charge my phone.

bottom line is.. most of the people who posts here have problems with the phone that's why they come here.. the rest, the other thousands who bought the phone are fine with it.. with no problems.. just like me.

i have owned tons of electronics from samsung, nokia, TReo's to traditional palm PDA and even the 1st generation iphone..
so far MOTOROLA surpassed the rest in terms of durability.. i still have my V505 clamshell phone after years of abuse, falls, scratches, minor liquid dips and splashes..

my conclusion is.. there's really no "BEST" or " ultimate" phone out there.

to all future buyers of the V8 or V9...
it's the CRYSTAL talk ( best reception among all the phones.. so far) that got me choosing this one.
and the "FEEL" of a solid, well built ( not plastic) cellphone on your hand.

if you prefer an MP3 player with some phone features.. go with an iphone perhaps.

As it stands now my USB port cover is on the verge of separating from the phone, actually the the outer piece that is glued to the rubber piece which attaches to the phone. I obviously still have the severe keypad issues I described on July 5th, cannot check missed calls on the external screen & have ever worsening battery life. I love it when some smug clown posts comments like "trust me it amazing", I can only respond by saying this: your jubilation will be short lived. This phone has become notorious with issues, much more so than any rendition of the original (V3, V3i, V3r, V3t, V3c, V3m, V3xx). If your battery is okay now, it will get much worse, if your keypad "why can I not see my missed calls on my outside screen"? This is baffling at best. And I do not need to go into the luxury edition I bought for my girlfriend as it does nothing via external screen other than allow you to use the basic controls on the music player.

I agree with above, had the phone for a while now and all the problems have surfaced over the last few months, inlcuding: terrible keypad (produces letters that weren't typed and misses spaces, etc), battery lasts just over a day at medium use, outer screen has stopped working twice. Um, oh yeh, the usb cover broke off after 2 days (and no, I'm not clumsy :-D )

I got my Razr 2 when they first came out. HATE IT!!! I seriously want to chuck it through a window every single day!! I am a major texter, and this keypad SUCKS! It adds letters and symbols that my fingers aren't even near. It takes me a few minutes to send a simple text because I'm constantly having to backspace and delete phantom letters. SO IRRITATING!

I have been using the V8 luxury edition since January. The keys are all malfunctioning making it very difficult to text. I am unable to view missed calls on the external screen which is strange, yet I can view and respond to messages. I bought my girlfriend the same phone last week and hers is a bit different then mine. The keyboard is slightly rounder and the phone does not open as far as mine. But the issue is that she cannot do anything with the external screen other than control the music player after it has been actuated while open. Even using the side keys, all you can do is hit "ok" by the left soft key which does not show you anything on the external screen once the "ok" disappears. Does anyone have any clue how to make the external keys work on her phone? Does anyone know how to make missed calls display on the external screen as well? Motorola obviously has not thought this through. That explains their market share.

Well, I've had my V8 for quite a while now with T-Mobile. I do get occaisional lock-ups and reboots but it seems to only happen when I'm running an application like AIM. My old Razr V3 was MUCH better staying connected to AIM than the Razr 2 V8. In fact, I pretty much avoid keeping it connected to AIM anymore.

The other casualty is the USB port door. It broke the other day.. well, sorta.. the part that makes it sit flush with the side of the phone came loose from the little piece that slides in/out. I couldn't even superglue it back together so I ended up just pulling the whole door thing out of the phone.

I always thought from the beginning when I received this phone that the usb port door would be the first thing to go and I was right.

Anybody with this phone is going to experience the same issue after using for months and charging it a lot. It's inevitable.

Does anyone know of where we can obtain a replacement door?

Thanks.

Thank you so much Jason for the advice. I am not a complete idiot and I could not figure out how to transfer photos to my PC for anything! Now I know to switch the connections to USB setting and open with Explorer. Like anything else, it's easy once you know how to do it! Ha ha. Thank you a million!
