It’s a norm nowadays, that most product makers are trying to combine two or more products into one, perhaps the intention is to make it more marketable and also to meet the increasing demands. Other than this, it’s definitely because the technology has gone so advanced, which chips are getting so tiny and interfacing among gadgets are so easy.
Fujitsu has teamed up with TomTom. What they’ve produced is nothing too special to me. Its new product, ECLIPSE AVN2210p, which is only the combination of an entertainment system that also works as the base station for a detacheable GPS navigation system. The world is getting more complex as well as the city that you live in. So there is an increasing demand for this kind of Personal Navigation Device (PND), which prevents you from getting lost in the city. Thinking a bit deeper, Fujitsu has their point here. The two-in-one ECLIPSE AVN2210p simply allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes while you’re home. Once you’re bored and feeling like going for a joy ride, then its GPS PND comes in handy, which allows you to easily find your way home later.
Feature wise: the AVN2210p is an audio unit complete with detachable PND that includes GPS antenna, rechargable battery and speaker, so that you can use it separately from the base unit. Maps of the US and Canada are on a separate SD memory card and It also benefits from TomTom Plus. The audio unit has a satellite broadcasting digital radio with optional tuner, plays MP3 and WMA files on its CD and CD-R/RW player, supports iPods and other DAPs. There’s 5V of preamp outputs and a 50W x 4 channel power amp with three-band equalizer and a low-pass filter, and will support your cellphone via Bluetooth. Cost is around $900 and it’s available from next month.
