Plan for new charging protocol to shorten USB gadgets charging time

Another USB improvement specification is being worked out by the USB implementation forum. This time it’s focus on the battery charging for your gadgets. This new specification is called Battery Charging Revision 1.0, is aimed to provide a standard way to allow portable devices to draw current from wall chargers or PCs. Other than this it aims to shorten charging time for your gadgets by having PCs and hubs to provide increased levels of current. Of course, safety issues are being well taken care, which the protocol also defines a mechanism for connected peripherals to detect the type of power source and also the appropriate amount of energy needs to be drawn from said host. There isn’t any word yet about the availability of this new specs plan in the market.
