Xbox 360, the Microsoft’s gaming platform, will surely be integrated with some other Microsoft’s well-known products and services sooner or later. Microsoft just announced today that they’re gonna integrate the Live Messenger with the Xbox platform. This feature is available for free through an Xbox 360 Dashboard update, which is - due for release on May 7. The intention behind is to bridge the Xbox and PC gamers. So the 6 millions Xbox live users can get to enjoy live chat with over 260 millions live messenger users over the world. Xbox live chat users will be able to have up to 6 chat text chat sessions from their contact list.

Text input on Xbox by default is using the onscreen virtual keyboard, but users can also connect their own QWERTY computer keyboard through one of the console’s USB ports. Other than this, Microsoft is also having plan to launch a QWERTY text-input device (as shown in picture). A new accessory that will connect directly into the Xbox 360 controller to support text and instant messaging, which is likely to be released in US this summer.

At first I thought this controller was a joke. It seems a good idea - hopefully the keyboard can slide away like some mobile phones have.
