NewTech’s USB-to-SATA Adapter

April 7th, 2007 by ketyung

NewTech's Chassis-less USB-to-SATA Adapter
NewTech has a pretty cool new product, which allows you to connect any internal SATA drive to your PC without the need to open up your PC case. The NewTech’s USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter allows you to connect an internal SATA drive and turn it into an external USB drive.

What this universal adapter does for you is to transform your SATA hard disk’s connector into an USB 2.0 connector. Other than this, it also provides you a power supply that fits the power connector of your internal hard disk drive, as shown in the picture.

This is pretty convenient especially for those working at IT department of a company, like me, who always needs to deal with data recovery. We occasionally face the kind of problem of PCs failing to boot, but we need to recover the data from the hard disks of the failed PC. The process will definitely involve opening up the case of the non-working PC, take out the hard drive and open up another working PC and plug the hard drive internally to the working PC, turn it on and read it from there.

Using the NewTech’s USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter, you can simply connect the internal SATA drive to your laptop or PC’s USB port for recovering your data, which you do not have to deal with the mess of opening up a working PC. I always feel so discouraged to open up a working PC for doing that, which will likely end up of messing up with the working PC and cause me some extra work later.

  1. USB Disk Dock simpler and neater to hook up external hard drives!- by Gadget, shop online blog of TechChee.com Says:

[…] The USB Disk Dock works similarly to an iPod dock. But this is for you to plug your SATA hard drive into instead iPod. This definitely comes in handy for geeks, as you know, we’ll have couple of hard drives scattered around our work place. And occasionally, we need to hook up these hard drives to our computer just to retrieve some data or some porn clips. Without this handy dock, you’ll need to deal with the hassle of unscrewing and opening up your PC case. Or the alternative is to get an enclosure to let your hard drive sit in it or use the USB to SATA adapter to hook up to your PC. But, I found all these wouldn’t be as simple and neat as the USB Disk Dock. […]
