The second generation of Samsung’s UMPC, Q1 was unveiled during CeBIT 2007, it’s called UMPC “Ultra Q1“. This new generation UMPC offers improved battery life and QWERTY keyboard and is lighter and more portable as the weight has been reduced from 760g to 690g. It runs on Windows Vista Premium OS and MS Origamy pack. The price for the Ultra Q1 has not been decided yet but we should expect it has similar price with the current Q1, which retails for around $1,300.

Another source says that Samsung is likely to come out with another cheaper version of its Ultra Q1 in order to boost sales. This approach would help Samsung to achieve its target for trying to sell at least two or three times more units than the Q1, which has so far sold less than 100,000 units. Do expect the cheaper version of Ultra Q1 will come with cheaper components, such as different Intel chip or non-Intel processor, such as Via Technologies. Other than this, Samsung also has plan to include ts hybrid disk drive, which uses flash memory to back hard disk drive.
