Sony’s first wireless Cyber-Shot Digital Camera

Sony’s been showing off some new digital cameras in its product lines. I’ve been a bit late of doing any catch-up. But at least, we need to look at this, the Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-G1 digital camera. A digital camera, first in its product line, which allows transmission or sharing of images wirelessly to other cameras and PCs. It uses Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology to share and transmit photos to other DLNA-compatible electronic devices wirelessly.

The DSC-G1 is a 6 megapixel camera, with image size that can go up to 2816 x 2112. It also has a 3.5-inch LCD screen, that comes with very high resolution, 921,000 pixels, which is about four times higher than the average compact digital camera and all previous Sony Cyber-shot models. With its DLNA capability, to send photos to your friends who also have DLNA-capable devices is just a press of a button! It’s also possible for up to four camera users to send each other photos in real time.

The DSC-G1 also comes with mega storage capacity, a 2GB internal memory. If you’re not a big-time shooter, the internal memory is much more than sufficient for you and there isn’t a need for extra media cards. The internal memory alone, is just like a virtual photo album, lets you store up to 7,500 VGA-quality photos or 600 6-megapixel pictures. Surely, for big-time shooter, you get to increase your total memory by adding Memory Stick Duo â„¢ media card or Memory Stick PRO Duo â„¢ card, which the biggest capacity you can get now in market is 8GB. Furthermore, it’s got advanced image management, which allows you to organize images by events, label images and search images with keywords, labels etc. Another cool is you can search for the image that has the same face, color or similar composition with another image. Some other enhancements are built-in technolgies for minimizing image blur, optical image stabilization, high light sensitivity.

The DSC-G1 digital camera will ship in April for about $600. Additional accessories will include lenses, filters, batteries, travel chargers, sports packs and cases.

I have been using T30 for my product shooting for quite some time now and very pleased with the quality. I personally love SONY products but I wonder with this new gadget how many people will have DLNA-capable devices to fully use the technology. :)
