Ya, this term has come to the Internet and created lot of buzz and now even you and me are so fed up of hearing it. It seems like web 2.0 is still pretty hot before “web 3.0″ comes to us. If you’re not too sure about what web 2.0 is, I just give a short summarry here. Web 2.0 is basically a marketing gimick, it’s a term that surrounds a several web technologies that have existed or created a much different phenomenon from the past in these few years. The web technology classified as web 2.0 are those work around for sharing or sharing resources, emphasized on users, enhanced usabiliy and friendliness and social networking.

To be more precise, just take a few examples here.

1. YouTube, is classified as web 2.0, as it allows users to upload and share their best-shot video to the world.

2. Flickr, for sharing your photos to your loved ones or to the world.

3. MySpace, a social networking site that allows you to create your blog, share your photos and music etc to your friends

The above 3 are those social networking and sharing websites, which work towards of providing spaces for users. Some others classified as web 2.0 that work on better usability or a different way of doing things than the conventional ways are:

1. Zoho, it brings your Microsoft Office to the web. It allows users to create, store and share their word, spreadsheet and presentation files online as if using Microsoft Office.

2. Some others such as snap.com, digg.com, del.icio.us and also my own search engine AskAlexia.com are those delivering better usability. All these websites use better technology components such as AJAX, Flash, tagging and RSS for enhanced usability.

As we can see obviously web 2.0 are emphasized on users and network, i.e a better usability, user ownership and sharing. Web 2.0 is heading towards to providing better tools and interesting websites to get more users online, and what’s next? It’s to monetize it! More solid monetizing is what is needed for web 2.0, i.e the monetizing should be extended to the user end, i.e it will provide every user to have the opportunity to make money online, which some of these have been around the corner for quite some time such as bloggers are able to make money from advertisement or payperpost, social networking websites are extending into a way letting users to monetize their own creation such as music, podcast, video, photos etc. Once everybody can make money online then everyone will need all these more efficient web 2.0 tools, resources and network for searching, storing, sharing and distributing their work and also establising the business contacts and communities. So, web 2.0 isn’t dead, it’s simply for the business 2.0, which the generation 2.0 will be able to make solid money online!
