Just last week at CES NVIDIA has unveiled there new line of Direct X 10 capable video cards in the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 series. This will be the first video card to the market that will enable gamers to take advantage of the new Direct X 10 upgrade found in the soon to be released Windows Vista, and step into what really is the next generation gaming.
Other than having impressive new specifications over the current line of cards, with much faster core clock speeds due to a new three tier setup in the architecture for the graphics cards these new cards are really going to take gaming to a new level gaming. The biggest display of this cards power have been shown at CES using the new PC game Crysis and Microsoft’s Flight Simulator X.
Direct X 10 will not be backwards compatible with and of the older Direct X’s. So as we get ready to step into this new era of cards, some compatibility issues are going to arise from Microsoft’s decision to not make their newest Direct X backwards compatible with any of the previous version. Though it’s likely that Microsoft may add in some type of software emulation, so that many won’t need to worry about compatibly with current games playing on there new systems. Of coarse if someone is worried there is always the possibility of setting up a duel boot just in case you have some classics in your collection that may still need some playing.
So far the expected price of these cards is set at about 400 to 500 dollars, $400 for the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS, and $500 for the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX.
