The Vista Media Center, the next generation of media center PC by Microsoft, which is believed that it will replace the TiVo setop box! The Vista Media center, which is capable of receiving cable-based HDTV signals (only through new CableCARD-based PCs) is expected to be shipped on Jan 30,2007. But it has triggered quite a number of electronics manufacturers competing in producing the remote controls! The followings are some of them:

Interlink Sideshow Remote
1. Interlink SideShow Remote

Ricavision SideShow Remote
2. Ricavison SideShow Remote

Philips remotes for Vista Media Center
3. Philips with a handful of remotes for the Vista media center and some with SideShow support!

The remotes that support SideShow come with built-in LCD so that you can navigate and control music playback without turning on the screen of your Vista media box.

Note: The Microsoft’s SideShow is a technology that allows quick access to the key information you need like appointments, key e-mails, or notes without turning on your laptop or PC box. (Future laptop or PC box design will be included with auxiliary display (e.g the remote with LCD display that supports SideShow or a cellphone etc) to allow users to quickly access to critical information, whether your laptop/PC box is on,off or in sleep mode)

[...] I’ve posted a few of SideShow-capable accessories, from remote controls to portable display module, which are all in the preparation for the upcoming Microsoft’s Vista SideShow technology. If you haven’t heard or seen enough, here is another one, the SRM7500 remote control from Philips, for your Vista Media Center. [...]

[...] Besides, it’s got something to do with Xbox 360 and the connectivity is the concern. It is said that Zune Phone will be able to sync with the Xbox 360 and stream video from the system to the phone via a wireless data connection. Microsoft seems to a bit ambitious on the video streaming, besides having millions of 360s in homes capable of downloading movies, it’ll push further to even having videos to be directly distributed to Zune Phones. Would Zune Phone offer interoperity to other Microsoft’s product? Such as as a SideShow display for Vista Media center etc? [...]
